International Womens Day

To mark #InternationalWomensDay, Cork City Council’s Women’s Caucus hosted its International Women’s Day Coffee Morning, bringing together representatives and athletes from a wide range of sporting disciplines across Cork. The event provided an opportunity to share positive experiences of leadership through sport and highlighted the important role sport plays in empowering women and girls at all levels.

The keynote speaker for the morning was Olympian Phil Healy, one of Ireland’s leading athletes. She spoke about her journey in elite sport, the value of representation, and the impact that strong sporting communities have in nurturing emerging leaders.

The event celebrated the exceptional contribution of Cork’s sporting groups and organisations in advancing women’s leadership, participation, and visibility in sport.
